Indian Cottage Review - March 2018
So here we are at Indiancottage in Newport Pagnell which holds a special place due
to this being the first of the Mk curry juniors meeting some 18 years ago.
Initial impressions favourable with a few tables occupied although this quickly subsided
to pretty much, we are the only table by 9:45.
Very good poppadoms and dips which were noticeable in flavour and they had clearly
been chilled. Onion bhajee starter really good and three of us had prawn purée which
we all agreed were the hottest we have ever had. Total madness! Sticks noted that
the starter was insane! We commented and got two more normally spiced. Both were
Mains pretty good - all maas tasty but not very spicy. Breads very good though.
Nice bottle of Sauv Blanc too and not expensive.
Toilets a little bit tired and the decor and fittings all a bit tired and dirty to
be honest. It all feels a bit of a shame.
Noisy table of 4 women! Making more row than us!
Too much food so doggy bag here we come!

Summary - Pretty good value for the portions. Not the first place you would choose
for you and your partner.
- Reshmi Kebab, not bad at all, with a funny little 1980s salad on the side, but worth
the wait from ordering
- Big portions of rice
- Lamb Laal Mas, pre-cooked lamb, but well flavoured
- Lamb Hari Mirich Bhuna. Very nice, good heat and good lamb too, very tasty and a
bit of an after kick
- Keema Naan, this was very, very good! Hot, light bread and a very good filling
- Service was a bit ad-hoc, long wait to start
- hyderbadi lamb. Nor very flavourful, not very spicy and lamb was average
- Bread/rice/veggies: bit disappointed overall
- Toilets weren't good and restaurant looked old and dated
- Not many covers for a Friday evening
