Moza Review – July 2024

So finally some sun has arrived just in time for the July meeting.  A pleasant few drinks at the Canon Pub in The High Street in Newport Pagnell and then a simple stroll across the road to Moza.

Moza has a few fans in our club so we were looking forward to this visit.  Additionally we had a guest from the USA so nice to introduce him to a UK “Indian”.

Inside the restaurant is set in two levels, quite nice up top but this time our table was on the lower level.  I believe the building was originally a bank.  High ceilings so it makes for a pleasant atmosphere.

Poppodoms and dips were all fine and promptly delivered as was the drinks order. A very limited wine selection but that’s the norm naturally.

A mix of starters around the table and no complaints. I had the mackerel purée and really enjoyed it. A decent portion and quite good to have the purée on the side as not everyone always wants to eat all the bread.

A mix of mains ordered along with breads, rice and a couple of sides.  I ordered the Special lamb and was disappointed to find it was lamb tikka rather than normal lamb.  Always tougher in my opinion but just reminds me to make sure to always ask in future.  Dave had the Naga lamb which was spicey for sure.  Other dishes all seemed to go down ok but I don’t think anyone was bowled over.  Rices all fine, breads ok but not as fluffy as some and the meat in the nan bread seemed to have been plonked on the top so it all fell off.

Service from all staff was exemplary throughout the evening plus they joined in with our light hearted banter at the table.

We had high expectations but perhaps the best description from our senior member summed things up; “mediocre”.  Moza is currently 7th on TripAdvisor for Newport Pagnell and the only two reviews for 2024 are v poor.

Let’s hope Moza can improve things to regain their position.  They really have a great building and good service and deserve to do better.
