Kassia Review – October 2025

On this, the spookiest night of the year, the MK Curry Club were determined to venture out and repel evil that night. Although some of us fell by the wayside, seven made it to the sanctuary, but not without trepidation.
Five rode into town in search of peace, but whence they came across the Inn they called the Cock Hotel, they were soon aware of the dangers that night would bring. Witches, warlocks, ghosts and ghouls were present and our five hero’s bravely drank the potions the inn keeper offered to ward off the devils surrounding them. With this daring task achieved, out into the night they went. Yet still the devil had not finished with them and lashing them with rain and wind. But our 5 were joined by two others and we reached the haven we set out to find and with the cry “Kassia, Kassia, save us! Let us enter! And Kassia heard, and opened its gates, and welcomed us in, and we were saved! And inside we met a nearly full house.
Popadums were offered, folded and crispy. Beer was ordered in celebration! The seven discussed with some fractiousness what food would be acceptable to eat. And the paperwork was done and handed to the chief of the night.
The cacophony inside this temple was deafening at times, but we battled through our first course – a true feast, lamb, prawns, potatoes, and other delights from foreign lands. A truly splendid start. Note was made of how good this was, the lamb chops and keema chips in particular. Then, the main event of more deliciousness, hot bowls of curry. Pulses, tubers, leafs of spinach, and cheeses from far flung corners of the earth.
Having imbibed so much, necessary visits to the watering closet were needed, and lo, the room was only fit for two when so many were dining at the tables!
Appetites and thirst sated, we bade fair well to dear Kassia, although no chocolate was offered, we were satisfied and left the establishment happy in the knowledge that no evil would touch us that night, and three angels approached to keep us safe and protect us, even from the man with a balloon tied round his knob that the local constabulary were interviewing…

| Positive | Negative |
|---|---|
| Nice greeting at the door, our table was ready | The ‘self order’ system did not go too smoothly for a large group |
| Nicely presented, folded pops | Should offer lime pickle with the pops |
| All the starters (from the Tapas menu) were very good. We had Chingri Aloo, Holoi Chingri, Chana Chilli, Onion Bhajee, Chicken Chilli Fry, Lamb Chops and Kassia Fries | The toilets are too small for a full restaurant |
| Mama’s Lamb – tasty and tender | Background music is unnecessary when it’s busy and noisy. It just makes it even more difficult to hear |
| Gujarati – thick sauce, tasty and spicy | |
| Railway Mutton Lamb – super lamb and curry sauce | |
| Khumbi Chicken – Super dish | |
| Garlic Chilli Masala – Excellent flavour and very well cooked | |
| Chicken Balti – Excellent dish | |
| All the sides, rice and naans were very good | |
| Service was spot on, more so, considering it was a busy evening | |
