Calcutta Brasserie Review – May 2025

Looked forward to this one and the we were not disappointed. The food is excellent, generally on all dishes and its not so expensive as you might think as you look around in its quite celebrious surroundings.

We were placed on a long table to the left as you enter the restaurant. We much prefer to be on the right where both the service and the atmosphere is much better. It’s quite quiet where we were and we often had to attract the waiters attention to get service. Felt a bit like the poor relations, wasn’t that busy and we had booked a week in advance.

There is a smaller choice of lamb dishes on the menu but there is a large choice of fish and seafood. Great for those that prefer it to meat . There is, of course, a large choice of chicken dishes also.

The ordering was a little slow and chaotic due to either the difficulty in using a tablet to take the order or the slowness of it, for whatever reason. However, once the ‘send’ button was pressed the delivery was very timely and pretty much all came together.

Certainly keeps up with the competition along Stony High Street, give it a try.
