The Grange Review – July 2025

This month’s visit was to the ever popular The Grange on Grange Farm. It always seems to be busy and, on this warm Friday evening, it was packed, including one very large party. I did wonder if this would delay or impact service but I needn’t have worried; we were promptly led to our table (our preferred round one!) and service was attentive and courteous all evening. This place normally has a very good vibe and that seemed especially so on this occassion.
We ordered popadums and two sets of chutneys were provided but a third was added, unprompted, when it became apparent that it would be required. As is the norm at this place, Managing Director Mr Saiyed was on hand to welcome us and to provide advice on what to order and what quantities we would need. He is a polished and accomplished host.
I’m writing this review without sight of the final ratings but a straw poll at the table indicated that the starters were very well received, perhaps with the exception of the Panir Tikka Shaslick which looked lovely but was in truth a little bland. Main courses were also very good, as indicated by another quick vox pop. My tawa gosht was excellent, lovely pieces of lamb with a tangy sauce, as promised on the menu. I sampled a couple of other mains and they were equally good in my opinion. One member of the club made particular mention that the Laal Maas was very hot indeed. I stand to be corrected but I think this dish was not on the menu but was cooked especially on request, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a great evening with good company being enhanced by great food and excellent service.

| Excellent service. Mr Saiyed, what a guy, he has made this restaurant very popular. | Menu is not over exciting but gives the regulars what they want. |
| Great pops and excellent chutneys | Poor salad, if you like that sort of thing |
| King Prawn Puree, very tasty, good puree | Nothing bad to comment on. A bit of a step up would certainly take them up our review table. |
| Nice warm plate for the mains | |
| Lamb Methi Madras was perfect spice | |
| Not too many comments as everything was good, as we now always expect from The Grange | |
